Crisis Intervention Specialist

This is a Full-time position in Logan, OH posted August 28, 2018.

This is a unique opportunity for a mental health professional to work as a Crisis Intervention Specialist and Behavioral Health Consultant in our Logan Behavioral Health Clinic. This is not a traditional therapist position, as there is limited time to assess and intervene as needed or the patient situations require.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Possess one of the following provider qualifications: LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, MFT, IMFT;
- Must possess provider qualifications necessary for the provision of crisis intervention services and pre-hospital screening services, as promulgated by the Ohio Department of Mental Health.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a mental health related field

Crisis Intervention Specialist Overview: A CIT pre-screener provides direct clinical services including crisis stabilization, pre-hospital screening and crisis community support services, and carries a small caseload.

Functions Include:

- Provides crisis stabilization services, evaluations, intakes, pre-hospital screening, in a variety of locations including in office, local emergency department, and law enforcement agencies.
- Emphasizes brief psychological and behavioral interventions with persons in need of crisis intervention.
- Provides emergency mental health evaluations of persons who may require involuntary and/or court ordered psychiatric hospitalizations. Provides hospital pre-screening of individuals seeking involuntary psychiatric hospitalization.
- Facilitates psychiatric hospitalizations when needed, as well as diversion (e.g. to Respite) when possible.
- Provides sufficient collateral contacts to assure high level of care for individual clients.
- Writes professional reports as needed.

Behavioral Health Consultant Overview: The behavioral health consultant (BHC) works as a mental health member of a healthcare team. The BHC’s work to improve recognition, treatment, and management of psychosocial/behavioral problems and medical conditions for patients of the primary care practice.

Functions Include:

- Must possess ability to manage behavioral health crises, provide rapid screening/assessment skills, knowledge of brief behavioral health interventions, and care coordination skills.
- Ability to be flexible and comfortable with the quick pace of a primary care setting.
- Able to work as a member of the primary care team with medical providers.
- Ability to operate as a brief consultant.
