This is a Full-time position in Chillicothe, OH posted August 4, 2017.

The Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library (CRCPL), in partnership with the State Library’s Guiding Ohio Online program, is accepting applications for a one-year contract for a full-time Digital Literacy Trainer. Depending on the successful continuation of grant funding, the position may be renewable for an additional year.

This position is 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend hours required. Pay is $12.00 per hour, and the position is a 12-month term running from October 1, 2017 – September 30, 2018. This is a contract position. As such, the successful candidate will be responsible for withholding the appropriate amount of income taxes and will not be eligible for health benefits.

Essential Position Functions:
Proactively provide customer service. Assist patrons with basic troubleshooting of common software products, operating systems, browsers, and other technologies, including handheld devices, e-readers, tablets, cell phones, laptops, etc. Assistance will be provided in person, but could also be provided over the phone, online (via a chat function or through email), or off-site. Promote and educate patrons on the use of online resources such as the library catalog and research databases. Develop and deliver library programs within library facilities and at offsite locations with the intention of increasing digital literacy in Ross County.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have at least a high school diploma. Some college preferred. Proficiency in a variety of technologies such as word processing, spreadsheets, database programs, Windows-based computer programs, and the internet. Competent and comfortable troubleshooting basic technologies that may be unfamiliar. Self-motivated, able to work independently, detail oriented, and possess excellent communication skills. Ability to train public and staff on use of technologies one-on-one, in small groups, or in classroom settings. Willingness to work with other library staff and community members to build partnerships and extend program reach. You will be based primarily at the Northside Branch Library (550 Buckeye St, Chillicothe), but travel to other library branches and offsite locations will be a major component of the position. A valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.

Salary: $12/hour

Benefits: This is a contract position. As such, the successful candidate will be responsible for withholding the appropriate amount of income taxes and will not be eligible for health or leave benefits. However, the schedule is somewhat flexible and we will do what we can to accommodate reasonable requests.
