This is a Part-time position in CHILLICOTHE, OH posted April 4, 2018.

Program Description: Map Your Future is an initiative of the United Way of Ross County working with a group of community, education and faith based partners to help students in Ross County successfully graduate from high school prepared for work and/or college. The mission of Map Your Future is to increase parent and student knowledge of college and career options and resources, so each Ross County student can develop a six-year plan to graduate from high school prepared for a successful future. Map Your Future consists of workshops and one-on-one or group mentoring to develop individualized six-year plans focused on a student’s interests and skills. Map Your Future is funded by a Governor’s Community Connectors Grant and a grant from the United Way of Ross County. The Map Your Future instructors are comprised of past educators who use the latest research and information to empower students to successfully develop career and college pathways.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing workshops based on the latest research and information; Workshops include Map Your Future 6-year plan; The Student Portfolio; The College Application Process; and the Career and Technology Path. Supplemental workshops can include: FAFSA, Scholarship and Financial Aid; Employee Basic Skills-How to Dress for Success and Resume and Interview skills.
  • Recruiting Map Your Future Mentors, specifically targeting Faith-Based Institutions.
  • Training mentors through the workshops
  • Scheduling/Coordinating Workshops with the schools we are partnered with.
  • Teaching the workshops and engaging students and parents. All workshops should be taught by at least two individuals.
  • Maintain the website for Map Your Future.
  • Scheduling mentors for the schools we are partnered with. Both Career mentors and At-Risk mentors.
  • Coordinating closely and working closely with School Guidance Counselors, Administrators and Curriculum Coordinators on schedules, needs and curriculum and programs within their schools so that Map Your Future can be tailored to their needs.
  • Coordinate and work closely with all partners in our program for the success of our program. Keep them updated on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with Map Your Future team members to develop, update and teach workshops.
  • Keep up to date on the latest information in terms of jobs in Ross County, career pathways, the college application process, middle and high school curriculum and graduation requirements.
  • Keep up to date on Scholarship opportunities for Ross County Students.
  • Identify and develop what tools will be used to measure program success and how outcomes and measurements will be gathered (frequency).  Examples, Surveys, Report Cards, Attendance, Extracurricular Involvement, Discipline and Grades Data.
  • Working closely with partners to develop print materials to supplement workshops.
  • Contribute feedback to partners and United Way of Ross County CEO.
  • Manage the Program Budget.
  • Supervise and provide annual performance evaluation of team members and provide to United Way of Ross County CEO.
  • Provide feedback to mentors and collect input on a regular basis.
  • Manage the annual budget for the program and work closely with the United Way of Ross County Finance Coordinator to track expenditures and receipts.
  • Collect all data required from partner schools and our own Map Your Future data for measurable outcomes and reports outcomes three times a year to the State of Ohio Governor Community Connectors Grant and to United Way and partners.
  • Work with the United Way of Ross County CEO in requesting and managing the annual grant and required reports.
  • Present and publicize the Map Your Future program to businesses and organizations within the community or to school districts.
  • All other duties as required.

Experience Requirements:

  • Must be an accomplished public speaker and be able to engage both adults and children.
  • Must have computer skills to include proficiency in PowerPoint Word, Excel.
  • Must have a familiarity with the Ross County area, schools, and students.
  • Background in college access and application process a plus.
  • Background in career exploration and planning a plus.
  • Background in youth development a plus.
  • Background in preparing students for career and technology fields a plus.
  • Classroom instruction experience a plus.
  • Background in preparing and instructing classes and workshops a plus.
  • Working with students from low-income communities a plus.
  • Experience in website management a plus.

  • Detail-Oriented-able to maintain records, budget, and all information and information on the program.
